At 0905hrs on June 19th, Technical Support/Rescue Squad 14, Chief 14A [Kitchen], and Chief 14B [Fabrizio] responded to the 10100blk of Canadian Way for the below grade rescue in Laurel. Units arrived on scene to find an adult male who fell approximately 25′ from scaffolding into a large concrete foundation and suffered severe injuries. Due to the design of the foundation and other obstacles, patient removal required crews to use a stokes basket and rope system. Personnel from Technical Rescue Stations 6 and 14 constructed a raising system, belay system, and used Tower 10 as a high directional to remove the patient. Chief 14B served as the Rescue Group Supervisor and Chief 14A was Technical Rescue Safety.
Company 14 was ready at 1050hrs.
