Injured Pennsylvania Firefighters 11 August 2007
The Berwyn Heights Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to the Parkside Fire Company (Delaware County, PA).
On Saturday, August 11, 2007, the Parkside Fire Company was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire. On arrival the company encountered heavy fire conditions in a two-story, townhouse and began an interior attack and search for possible occupants. The crew began to make quick progress when suddenly the second story collapsed trapping firefighters Chase Frost and Daniel Brees.
Firefighter Brees was able to be rescued within minutes with the assistance of a crew from Green Ridge Fire Company. Firefighter Frost was extricated within 15 minutes despite the accumulation of a large quantity of building materials, furniture and contents completely covering him. He was eventually freed with the assistance of a crew from Green Ridge Fire Company and Garden City Fire Company.
Both firefighters remain hospitalized in critical condition. Please keep the two firefighters, their family and friends, and the Parkside Fire Company in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
