Apartment Fire – 1800blk Metzerott Rd – 14 June 2008

At 1730 hours, Truck 14 and Chief 14A (McCoy) were alerted to the 1800 block of Metzerott Road for the apartment fire.  Truck 14 with 7 volunteers arrived on scene with the first-due engine and found smoke showing from a top floor apartment.

With access blocked to the front of the building by a wood fence, the crew proceeded to remove it and gain better positioning closer to the building.  Truck 14's officer, barman and hookman reported to the top floor, found fire in apartment #502, searched, vented, and checked for extension.  At the same time, the laddermen threw 155 feet of ground ladders (35', 30', 30', 24', 20' and 16'), and the driver and tillerman put the aerial up to the roof, cut a large hole, and removed multiple vent covers.

The fire was quickly knocked down and Truck 14 was ready for service at 1917 hours.
