At 0002 hours, Rescue Squad 14 and Chief 14 (Fusco) were alerted to the innerloop of I-495 at Annapolis Road for the personal injury accident.  Calls received by Public Safety Communications advised of an overturned vehicle in a ditch with one trapped inside.

Engine 282 was first arriving and confirmed the information provided by PSC.  Rescue Squad 14 with 8 volunteers and Chief 14 arrived moments later and went to work.  Chief 14 established the “Beltway Command” and the squad crew quickly stabilized the vehicle.  After stabilization was completed, Rescue Squad 14 removed the trunk hatch, cut the C posts, and did a vertical spread in the rear of the car to provide patient access.

The patient was quickly extricated from the car and transported to a local trauma center.  Rescue Squad 14 was ready for service at 0029 hours.
