Truck 14, Squad 14, Squad 14B, Chief 14 and Chief 14A
At 0934, Truck 14, Squad 14, Squad 14B, Chief 14 and Chief 14A were dispatched to th 4700 Block of Berwyn House Road for a fire in a building under construction. Truck 14, the first arriving truck, observed fire showing from the 6th floor of the building on the east side, and the incident quickly progressed to a 5 alarm fire. Firefighters were evacuated from the interior of the building after the fire extended to the top floor and roof. Fire suppression was left to master water stream devices on ladder trucks. Over 200 firefighters from Prince George’s, Montgomery, Howard County and the District of Columbia were utilized to extinguish the fire. The estimated fire loss is $39,000,000 and this incident is the largest suppression effort in the history of the Prince George’s Fire/EMS Department. All BHVFD apparatus were placed in service at 2003.
