2 alarms on box 48-33
At 0445 hours Company 14 was dispatched to the 8400 blk of Greenbelt Rd for the apartment fire.
Co. 48 went on scene with smoke showing from the terrace level of a 3 story apartment building. Truck 14 and Squad 14 were the second and third arriving units, and the first and second arriving special services.
Both the Truck and Squad were put to work by Chief 14B with command. Truck 14 was assigned to the fire floor for search and rescue and the Rescue Squad was assigned as the search teams for all 3 floors.
Command requested the second alarm due to the extension of fire on side charlie to the 2 floors above. Truck 14 and Engine 48 and 28 made the push into the fire apartment.
There were initial reports of an elderly gentleman that was unaccounted for from the fire apartment. After completing the primary in the exposure apartments, part of Squad 14’s crew pulled a line to the 3rd floor to extinguish the fire that had extended via the side charlie windows.
Fire was contained to the C and D quadrants of the fire building. The missing occupant had evacuated and was found outside the building.
Company 14 operated with 15 men including command and was ready for service at 0909 hours.
