Ladder Truck Rehab Underway
In April, BHVFD shipped our 2009 Seagrave Ladder Truck to the Seagrave Manufacturing Plant in Wisconsin for a mid-life rehabilitation. This is a comprehensive project that will include disassembling the entire truck, removing the 100ft aerial ladder to be stripped and refinished, heavy work on the engine, brake system, and electrical systems, upgrading to all LED lighting, refinishing the interior of the cab, and a full paint job when reassembled. This rehabilitation is estimated to take several months, costs over $700,000, and is expected to extend the unit’s life another 10-12 years. The County has provided a long-term reserve ladder truck to run as Truck 14 in the meantime.
