Multiple Extrications for the Rescue Squad
Over the past month, Rescue Squad 14 and its volunteer crews have run numerous extractions:
May 28th- Rescue Squad 14 was alerted to the area of I-495 at I-95 for an accident involving a tractor-trailer. Squad 14 and its volunteer crew arrived to find a car pinned under a tractor-trailer with the driver trapped. The crew removed the doors, roof, and dash of the vehicle and extricated the driver.
June 2nd– Rescue Squad 14 & Ambulance 14 and their volunteer crews were dispatched to Kenilworth Ave and Good Luck Road for an accident with one trapped. Squad 14 removed the door of the vehicle and Ambulance 14 provided care.
June 2nd– After clearing the Kenilworth Ave call, the Rescue Squad was dispatched to the Baltimore Washington Parkway at Riverdale Road for a reported vehicle accident with injuries. Engine 9 from Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department arrived just before BHVFD and reported a single-vehicle accident with two people trapped. The Squad crew stabilized the vehicle in the wooded area, removed both sides, and extricated both occupants.
June 3rd– Rescue Squad 14 and its volunteer crew was requested to assist units on the scene to assist Rescue Engine 18 (Glen Dale) with a complicated rescue as the second Rescue Squad in the 11400 block of Laurel Bowie Rd. Upon arrival the crew completed extricating the occupant by removing the drivers door and completing a dash lift to free the pinned occupant.
June 3rd– Rescue Squad 14 and its volunteer crew were requested to the 7000 block of Central Ave as the second rescue squad to assist County Rescue Squad 6 (St. Joseph’s Drive Station) with a complicated extrication. Upon arrival, the volunteer crew removed the drivers seat and used a ram to free the pinned occupant.
June 5th- Rescue Squad 14 and its volunteer crew were dispatched to Montgomery Rd and Sellman Rd in Beltsville to assist units on scene with one trapped. Rescue Squad 814 removed two doors and the B-Post to extricate the patient before returning to service.
