
Squad as Search Company on Beltsville House Fire
On Saturday May 24th at approximately 0600 Rescue Squad 14, Chief 14B, and surrounding companies were alerted tot he 4400Blk of Powder Mill Road in Beltsville for a reported house fire with three children trapped. While enroute, communications updated units that County Police were on scene with fire showing and confirming three children trapped inside. Rescue Squad 14 arrived, and as the 2nd due special service on the box, assumed the duties of search company. The volunteer crew searched the structure, which was found to be a single family dwelling that was cut into three separate apartments. The primary and secondary searches proved negative, and it was later discovered the children were out of Town and no in the house. Crews completed searches of the home, which were negative, and controlled utilities. SQ14 operated for approximately 2 hours before returning in service.
